High-end demagnetizer Acoustic Revive RD-3
We will never hear the best possible sound from a CD if it is magnetized. First of all - the print that is applied to the CD contains iron. For example, red, yellow and brown colours contain iron oxide, blue and green colours contain cobalt and silver colours contain nickel. Iron, cobalt and nickel are ferromagnetic and are easily magnetised.
Secondly, the aluminium used to produce the CD writing layer causes problems. The Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) stipulates that the aluminium used in the production of CDs must be 99% pure. The remaining 1% contains iron, nickel and cobalt. When the disc rotates in the player, a magnet holds it in place and a magnetic field is also created by the motor. All this causes the discs (including DVDs, CD-Rs, etc.) to become magnetized.
