The jacks very effectively address a significant source of signal distortion - high frequency interference transmitted from the floor to the audio cables. A carpet or wooden floor, not to mention a concrete floor, may not initially seem like a source of RF interference, but in reality RF energy is all around us. A close analogy might be, for example, the transmission of static electricity when touched. Lifters significantly reduce RF interference generated when speaker or power cables come into contact with the floor. A few centimetres may not seem significant, but the resulting sound is reflected in lower noise levels, less distortion and more accurate presentation. If you think that "your cables are shielded and have no interference problems", you are partly right - but at high frequencies, thanks to the omnipresent Wi-Fi etc., the original signal is unintentionally affected anyway. Conventional shielding can't remove the high frequency noise that is transferred to the signal carried by the wires, not to mention that the shielding itself is connected to ground, which in a sensitive signal can cause a lot of distortion.
 

Very useful and very beneficial to the sound are interchangeable cable jacks. It is possible to make them run the cables behind the hifi table to resolve all sorts of overlapping cables, or use the other side of the jack and lay the speaker cable from the speakers on top of it.
