The α (Alpha) OCC-DUCC from Furutech is one of a select few conductors that Furutech engineers have found to excel in sound reproduction. The α(Alpha)-OCC-DUCC is constructed using a combination of DUCC ultra-crystallized high-purity copper and Furutech's world-renowned Pure Transmission α(Alpha)-OCC.

Furutech's ultra-crystallized high-purity DUCC copper - supplied and regulated by Mitsubishi Materials Industries' stringent quality control - is one of the best conductors Furutech engineers have found for signal transmission. Mitsubishi processes this extremely pure oxygen-free copper using a new technology that optimally aligns the crystals while reducing the number of crystal grain boundaries, resulting in an extremely efficient conductor.
The advantage of Straight OCC is its larger "fiber" crystals, in which one dimension is longer than the other two to create the fewest crystal bonds. OCC's sensitivity to directionality; one path exhibits the least resistance. Furutech's world famous Pure Transmission α-OCC is the result of further processing with Alpha Super Cryogenic and Demagnetizing treatments.
Pure DUCC, however, goes a significant step further. Mitsubishi Materials has designed the new conductor to optimally align the grain structure of the copper crystal and, in addition, to reduce the grain boundaries of the crystal. As a result, DUCC is less sensitive to directionality than OCC.

FI-48 NCF power terminals

The Furutech FI-48 NCF(R) is part of the brand's range of connectors that incorporate NCF material and benefit, as with all Furutech products, from a high quality design. It uses high quality components, carefully selected for their performance when used by audiophiles. The connector contacts are made of pure rhodium plated copper with an Alpha (α) finish. This consists of a first cryogenization step and a second demagnetization step that increases the conductivity of the contacts. The connector body is made of nylon and fiberglass as well as of NCF (Nano Crystal² Formula) anti-resonance material. The latter uses a crystalline material with two active properties. The first is the generation of negative ions to eliminate static electricity and the second is the conversion of thermal energy into infrared energy. Furutech combines NCF with ceramic nanoparticles and carbon powder for a piezoelectric damping effect. The connector shell is made of non-magnetic SUS303 steel, which increases the connector's durability and reduces the impact of interference on the signal. The connector also utilizes an efficient cable retention system using a metal clamp.

Floating field damping system
The magnetic field passing through the cable and its connector creates a magnetic and electrostatic field around them several times per second. This magnetic field induces current leakage and electrical potential in small components such as the screws that hold the connector body, and must be made of metal for effective clamping. Current leakage in these components creates a magnetic field floating around them and interfering with the larger magnetic field of the cable and connector, creating distortion and noise.

Floating Field Damper System technology solves this problem by grounding these metal parts. All the different metal parts of the connector are interconnected and the generated electrical potential are grounded. This significantly reduces noise by reducing distortion for extremely clean and stable power transmission.
